Our story begins in 2018 when Matt Abbott, a visionary property developer, recognized the untapped potential of the Crossroads area in Kansas City. Rather than seeking to change it, he sought a way to curate new buildings that preserved Kansas history while introducing updates that would beckon people from all over the Kansas City area and beyond to the Crossroads district for events. Having already successfully developed multiple properties in the Kansas City Crossroads area, Matt identified the need for a unique event space. In 2018, after acquiring what would become The Abbott, Matt, along with his wife Emily, embarked on a transformative journey to convert an old plumbing house into a luxurious event space.
The success of restoring this historical venue inspired Matt and Emily to venture further into the hospitality business.
They expanded their portfolio, adding three more venues in the Kansas City area and an additional four venues across the nation, including bars, hotels, and dining halls. Matt serves as the strategic mind, while Emily's creativity drives their projects, and together, they craft beautiful spaces where people can come together for events of all sizes.
